Of Corporate Social Responsibility, CGMM & Conferment of Honorary Membership

By CRB Luningning P. Carios, P.R.O. , REBAP Naga City – Cam Sur Chapter

After Usman has left more than 700 families with shattered homes in the municipality of Sagñay, Camarines Sur, the REBAP NAGA CAMSUR team led by its CSR Chairperson, CRB Shiela Salvo wasted no time in collecting donations of food packs,  clothing, blankets and the like.  And thru the generosity of its members, salespersons, friends, family, co-CRBs from other chapters like CRB Jim Ordoñez, CRB Mia Padua and the REBAP National Board, whodonated Php20, 000,the Chapter was able to gather ample funds for the activity. They also coordinated with CRB Jorge T. Palma, the Chairman of the Board of Metro Naga Water District to provide a lorry of potable water to the affected area.

In the early morning of January 6, 2019, the participating brokers, salespersons and the PNP personnel gathered in front of Camella office to organize and segregate the sacks/boxes of basic food and health kits into packs for the 143 families. Vehicles to transport the goods were sponsored by CRB Arlene Bragais, CRB Allan Remoquillo and Camella Naga. While the PNP brought their own bus service, the CRBs managed to share spaces in the vehicles of CRB Jun Encila and CRB Carlo Villanueva, Jr.  in going to and froSagñay.

With the help ofMrs.Yolenia S. Cosa, a Municipal Coordinator and Civil Society Organization Representative from KALAHI-KCNCDDP, the team were able to distribute the goods directly to the 143 sheltered families at Sagñay Sports Complex.

It was a moving and humbling experience, that amidst the hardships, the evacuee children still managed to render a dance intermission number before the goods were handed directly by the CRBs to the heads of the family with respective identification numbers.

More funds/pledges for further relief operation came in afterwards thru the effort of CRB Cristy M. Palma and her friends; Dr. Daisy Ison, Mr. Romeo Rocamora and Ms, CelynSta Ana. The officers have agreed to give it to Caritas-Caceres Naga Development Center, a Catholic religious organization who also gathers goods for distribution to the distressed victims of Typhoon Usman.
