“REBAP NOW SOARING HIGH”
By: CRB JULIUS G. TOPACIO, CPA

The months of May and June have been very significant to our organization. It was during these times that REBAP once more soared high to bring honor and prestige to the ever-vibrant image in the real estate service industry. To quote no less than our Chair of Council of leaders, Engr. Polly Alberto --- “ First time in Rebap history has this happened, and we are now earning what we reaped from our hardwork and determination to be No.1 in the industry.”
REBAP takes pride in its twin achievements of producing the six (6) out of the 11 topnotchers in the recently concluded May 25, 2008 Real Estate Brokers Examination conducted by Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), and the other, the successful kick-off of its traditional National Annual Sportsfest and Family Day dubbed as “ 2008 Rebap Olympics” hosted by Quezon City Chapter held last June 1, 2008 at Casa Milan Clubhouse, Neopolitan Subdivision, Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City.
MAY 2008 : REBAP PRODUCED TOPNOTCHERS IN THE 25 MAY 2008 BROKERS’ EXAM
The scorching heat of summer indeed created waves that astounded the PRC and REBAP in May 2008. According to DTI-BTRCP Dir. Victorio Mario A. Dimagiba, 462 out of 1,105 or an equivalent of 41.81% passed the licensure examination given by the Board of Examiners in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga. Of the 11 topnotchers, 6 were produced by REBAP as a result of the various Comprehensive Real Estate Seminar and Review (CRESR) conducted by the various REBAP chapters nationwide. In fact, REBAP dominated the Top 1 to 5 ranking, capturing the first slots of high-scoring examinees who were al products of REBAP seminar and review.
This is one feat that is clearly attributable to REBAP’s strict adherence to the best quality seminar and review regularly conducted by the REBAP Chapters. I take great pleasure in commending our Chapter officers in their generous efforts to train and produce globally competitive and exceptional real estate brokers through a well-organized program and comprehensive syllabi. Credit is also given to the excellent pool of reviewers within the organization.
Great students are molded by great mentors, so equal recognition and credit must be given to REBAP’s distinguished and notable reviewers responsible for producing the Rebap Top 5 --- CRB Bong Cruz of Greenhills Chapter, Nat’l Dir. Atty. Claire Castro of the Quezon City Chapter, and CRB Rey Duterte of Greenhills Chapter. We likewise salute and take our hats off for a “ great job well done” to those Chapters and Chapter Presidents who contributed to this prestigious achievement, namely, Pres. Margaret Gaw of Quezon City, Pres. Amor Isip of LAMP, Pres. Sammy Garcia of Makati and Pres. Robert Sarmiento of Greenhills.
Worth mentioning, of course, are the top 5 successful examinees-brokers who deserve the Association’s approbation and commendation for their brilliance:
Top 1: Atty. Jasmin Uy Tan ( Quezon City Chapter) and Atty. Mary Angeline Saulog Tol ( LAMP Chapter) both with 87% rating; Top 2: Nicanor Patiga Tapangco Makati Chapter ) with 85%; Top 3: Celso Thomas Bulan Valmores (Greenhills Chapter) with 84%; Top 4: Carmen Pareja Morente with 83% (Greenhills Chapter), and Top 5: Jonathan Herbert Cua Uy ( Quezon City ) with 82%.
In recognition, the 6 topnotchers will be presented by the National Board and the Rebap Chapter Presidents who conducted the CRESR at the 2nd General Membership Meeting on June 27, 2008. The Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker is the vibrant and eloquent Sen. Chiz Escudero who will do award the respective Certificates of Recognition to the 6 Topnotchers of the 28 May 2008 Brokers’ Exam.
It is noteworthy sharing to all that all successful examinees, including REBAP’s top 6, took their oath taking ceremony conducted by the Real Estate Service Council of the Philippines (RESCOP), the umbrella organization of all real estate practitioners, headed by its Chairman DTI-BTRCP Director Dimagiba on June 11, 2008 at the SM Megatrade Hall B, and was sponsored by our REBAP media partner, The Philippine Star (Philstar).
JUNE 2008 : REBAP-PHILSTAR REAL ESTATE JOB FAIR and the ANNUAL FAMILY DAY
Real Estate Job Fair
Without resting on its laurels of success, REBAP, with its exclusive partner PHILSTAR, conducted a one day free seminar (with CEP accredited units) on 12 June 2008 for all successful examinees, brokers and agents and other real estate enthusiasts at the same venue, SM Megatrade Hall B, in relation to the Association’s project, REBAP- Philstar Real Estate Job Fair (11-12 June 2008).
REBAP National provided competent resource speakers who were all successful professionals in their own fields within the real estate and related industry. Their vast knowledge and skills, coupled with their experience, created a conducive forum that brought inspiration to all the participants during the said seminar. Our sincerest and grateful appreciation to our beloved resource speakers, Atty. Ruth Tan of DTI-BTRCP (Topic: Legal requirements and Violations and penalties on Colorum Brokers), Past National Pres. and member of Board Examiners, CRB Lito Nebre (Topic: How a Real Estate Broker can tremendously succeed in the real estate industry), Chapter President of Rebap Greenhills Chapter, CRB Robert Sarmiento (Topic: Breakaway from the Pack), Ms. Ester “Maret” Bautista, Treasurer of Follosco Group of Companies (Topic: Personal Finance Management), and Past President Rebap Greenhills Chapter, CRB Librada “Lebby” Leagogo ( Topic: Real Estate as a Career ).
The two-day affair would have not been possible without the able assistance and support of Philstar, REBAP’s sponsor and partner of said event. REBAP extend its great appreciation to Philstar Vice Pres. for Advertising, Mr. Lucien Dy Tioco, Corporate Communications Manager, Ms. Jay Sarmiento and to Mr. Bimbo Andrade, Head, Business Unit 4 for the trust and confidence that allowed REBAP to takeover the Real Estate Job Fair and convert the same to a Property Fair, a decision by Philstar made two days before the event.
The quick response of some National Board Members and Chapter Presidents and representatives during the emergency meeting held in the morning of 09 June 2008, a non-working holiday at that, in REBAP National Office showed unity and selfless generosity worth mentioning. From the National Board, we would like again to thank the following: Chairperson CRB Emily Duterte, V.P. External Affairs, CRB Elizabeth Chang, V.P. Finance Lorna Coyco, V.P. Internal Vangie Yia, National Dir. Tina Legaspi, National Dir. CRB Connie Silva and National Dir. CRB Dra. Vangie de Jesus. From the various Chapters, Pres. Edna Martinez of Mandaluyong, Pres. Philstar also brought major sponsors Federal Land, Inc. and DMCI who occupied both front booths.
Family Day
REBAP’s summer will not be complete without its annual Family Day. An unforgettable event for REBAP was the kick-off of its traditional annual activity, the celebration of the National Annual Sportsfest and Family Day dubbed as “ 2008 Rebap Olympics” hosted by Quezon City Chapter held on 01 June 2008 at the Casa Milan Clubhouse, Neopolitan Subdivision, Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City.
Eight (8) NCR Chapters gave their full support with a remarkable attendance for this year’s celebration, bringing in 118 regular and associate members and 122 family members or a total of 240 attendees. The fun-filled day started with the Parade of Chapters in team colors with their respective team muses, followed by the actual lighting of the Olympic flames, a symbolic act similar to the torch lighting ceremony during the Olympics. Our torchbearer was no other than the hunk from Quezon City Chapter, Over-All Committee Chairman and Past Chapter Pres. CRB Chuck Seechung.
The game proper consisted of twelve (12) sporting events conducted by two (2) independent and professional referees/validators, with judges comprising of the Officers from Homeowners Association of Neopolitan Subdivision. It was a well organized mini-olympics, made more competitive by the defending Champion, Quezon City Chapter headed by its Pres. CRB Margaret Gaw managed by its Over-all Chairman, CRB Chuck Seechung and Vice Chairman CRB Bonnie Santos, reinforced by the six (6) Sub-Committees all under the supervision of the hardworking tandem -- the National Sportsfest Director CRB Pinky Aguinaldo and her pretty deputy and DZMM Abogada ng Bayan, CRB Atty. Claire Castro.
The mini-olympics showcased the camaraderie and sportsmanship of all the participating members and their respective families. Everyone simply enjoyed the day’s frolic and fun, threw their hats away in jest like little children and played hardball only when necessary, all in the name of fair sports. At the end of the day, winners emerged, and losers could only shake their hands and give their winning smile to congratulate the Chapters who won the major awards: Quezon City Chapter as the Over-all Champion, Mandaluyong Chapter as the 1st Runner-up, and Greenhills Chapter as the 2nd Runner-up.
Special Awards were given to the Quezon City Chapter as the Best in Cheering Contest, Greenhills Chapter as Best in uniform/Team colors, Quezon City Chapter as Most number of Attendees and Greenhills and Makati Chapters who shared the award for the Best Muse.
Again, REBAP gives its thundering applause to all the winners, and a double handshake of congratulations to the organizers and the Chapter participants (Quezon City Chapter, Mandaluyong Chapter, Greenhills Chapter, LAMP Chapter, Marikina River City Chapter, Makati Chapter, Caloocan Chapter, Ortigas Chapter, for making this year’s Annual Sports and Family Day celebration a truly remarkable success.
In sum, REBAP’s soaring high achievements these months of May and June 2008 prove that in unity, we are stronger. Let this feat serve as an inspiration to all our members and may it encourage more pro-active involvement in all Chapter and National activities, as well as for the National Board to work steadily for the greater benefit of our organization. Let us work and earn together, be distinctively different with a difference as we continue to find extraordinary in the ordinary for being the No. 1 organization in the country. At sky high, let us be proud to be Certified Real Estate Brokers. Mabuhay ang REBAP!
