By CRB Roi Marc A. Teodoro and CRB Mary Joy S. Bisana
REBAP Naga City – Camarines Sur’s first two months of 2018 was already filled with activities geared toward the holistic development of its members. It started off with the Induction and Charging of its 2018 Chapter Officers last January 20 held at Haciendas de Naga. The event was hosted by Sps. CRB Emeterio L. Aman and Maliene San Pascual Aman and their daughter, Elaine Joy Aman of Enjoy Realty and Development Corp. CRB Rhoneil R.M. Mercado, 2018 REBAP National Chairman and Hon. Mayor John G. Bongat, City Mayor of Naga graced the event. The Chapter, for the first time in its twenty years of existence, has elected what the members fondly call a “millennial” president in the person of CRB Roi Marc A. Teodoro. In his inaugural address he mentioned that his presidency is going to be a challenge for he is relatively young and still a novice as compared to the previous presidents. But in spite of and because of it, he assured his members – that with the guidance of the Past Presidents and Council of Elders, this year will be one of the best one yet. It will be a youthful year for the Chapter and that he will utilize his youthfulness to be the driving force to give the chapter a new perspective of leadership and introduce innovative ways in resolving challenges ahead.
On the 26th of January, the chapter officers had a half-day planning session facilitated by Mr. Rene Gumba. The aim of was to set the goals, plans and programs of the chapter for the whole year. The session started by determining the chapter’s current resources available, past projects, activities, lessons and challenges encountered. It was followed by the planning proper where the president listed his plans for the year. The board of directors expressed their sentiments regarding the plans and presented their own proposals for the chapter. The session ended with all of the officers and board of directors committing themselves to actively participate in the plans and programs set that day. CRB Jaime M. Kalaw, Jr., past president of the chapter was instrumental in the fulfilment of the said activity.
Also in wanting to keep its camaraderie and working relationship with various government agencies, the chapter officers conducted a slew of courtesy calls to its partner agents such as the Office of the Mayor, BIR, ROD and HDMF. All of them gave their assurance of continuous support to the chapter and its activities.
The third and fourth activity of the chapter was focused on its Corporate Social Responsibility. The members expressed their generosity and kindness of heart by their immediate response to the plight of those in need particularly those of the Mayon evacuees. The 2018 chapter officers and board of directors resolved that the amount of ten thousand pesos be taken from the chapter’s fund to augment the donations from the chapter members. Thru the help of Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Philippines and Tabang Bicol, CRB Roi Marc Teodoro, 2018 Chapter President, and members of the CSR committee: CRB Maria Sheila E. Salvo, CRB Salve Q. Bermudo, CRB Cynthia B. de las Alas and CRB Joy Bisana went to the evacuation center at Baligang Elementary School in Camalig, Albay last February 7, 2018. They served a hot meal to more than one thousand two hundred individuals to help alleviate the hunger of the evacuees as well as the elementary students who were there for their classes. While on the 17th of February, CRB Romeo M. delas Alas, 2017 Chapter President and current National Board of Director, along with several 2018 officers, carried out its promise last year to the Missionaries of Charity, which is both an orphanage and a home for the aged. Thru the contributions of the chapter members they had a catered lunch for the elderly and the children and gave out groceries and other necessities.
To cap off its event-filled first quarter, the chapter, headed by its Vice President for Internal Affairs CRB Emily F. Delfin-Kalaw, held a business meeting for its members and their salespersons last February 28 at Aljosh Café. The turnout of participants was more than what was expected, making the event a resounding success. Even CRB Rosemarie Estrada from Daet, Camarines Norte, together with her sales persons was able to attend the business meeting. Mr. Rene Gumba, discussed parliamentary procedure to serve as a guide to the officers as well as additional knowledge to all those present. CRB Vercille Mona D. Vinculado had an insightful talk on the importance of professional business ethics. Theody Jean D. Amador of HDMF Head of Naga Housing Business Center gave an update on the housing programs of PAGIBIG fund. BellaVita Land Corp., sponsored the event and presented their new project in Naga City.
Through the new leadership, the year started with something novel indeed – giving the members up-to-the-minute information and knowledge through chapter business meetings, utilization of social media, creating new business opportunities, maintaining linkages with partner agencies, boosting their morale through CSRs, and planning the year full of exciting activities in the hopes of membership development and industry recognition.
